We know real Hoosier horsepower! It is the mission of the Indiana Horse Racing Commission to oversee pari-mutuel horse racing in Indiana, and to protect the integrity of the sport through active and diligent regulation.


Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $17.36/hr but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • The test barn attendants shall, in accordance with commission standard operating procedures, procure a urine sample of each horse entering the test barn for testing.
  • The test barn attendants shall be responsible for identifying each horse entering the test barn by verifying the correct microchip, freeze brand, or tattoo.  
  • The test barn attendants may be responsible for verifying whip welts, cuts, etc. on horses as assigned.
  • The test barn attendants shall maintain the test barn in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Other duties as assigned

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment: 

  • Candidate is responsible for following commission rules, policies and procedures regarding sample collection and chain of custody.  Knowledge of commission rules, policies and procedures regarding sample collection is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with large animals, preferably horses, is desired.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
